Bruce was born and spent his youth in South Africa before emmigrating to the United States and completing his science degree at the University of Utah. He then headed off to Scotland where he completed his veterinary degree at the University of Glasgow in 2002. Preferring the more tropical lifestyle, he then came out to Australia, where he worked in Wauchope and Newcastle for a few years, before permanently settling on the Central Coast.
Bruce’s professional interests lie in all aspects of medicine and surgery. He has a particular passion for ultrasonography and soft tissue surgery.
Bruce is married to Briar and together they have two young boys. Outside of work, Bruce enjoys diving, kayaking, crossfit and karate. The family has a much loved big brown dog called Henry as well as two mischievous cats, Rosie and Twistie.
Stephen completed his veterinary degree at the University of Queensland in 2010. He has worked in both small and mixed animal practices within Port Stephens and the Central Coast. Stephen also spent two years working as an emergency and critical care veterinarian at the Small Animal Specialist Hospital (SASH) in Sydney and the Animal Referral Hospital (ARH) in Gosford. Stephen joined the team at Kanwal Veterinary Hospital in March of 2017.
Stephen is interested in all areas of veterinary general practice, but he holds a particular fondness for surgery, dentistry, and emergency medicine. And yes, he has seen the occasional ferret.
When not at work, Stephen enjoys being at home with his partner Belinda, and son Cameron. He enjoys taking time out by training in karate, playing guitar, or indulging in a nice meal with a glass of wine. The family also lives with a lovely ginger cat named Reg, who is a little bit simple….
Briar Krumm (Thornburrow)

Briar undertook her veterinary degree and graduated from the University of Queensland in 2000. She has worked on the Central Coast since graduating. Her interests include small animal medicine and emergency medicine.
She is married to Bruce and in her spare time, she is kept very busy tending to their two young boys and pets Henry, Rosie and Twistie.
Sarah graduated from the University of Sydney and moved to the Central Coast a number of years ago for her first job. She joined Kanwal Vet Hospital in 2019 and loves getting to know new clients and their pets and values the relationship she is able to form with them, helping them ensure their fur baby of the family is healthy and happy. She has a massive soft spot for Golden Retrievers and Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, with one very demanding and extremely loveable Cavalier sharing her life, Monty the Monster. Two golden oldies, Tavish and Reilly live with her parents but visit regularly.
Tiana has come to our practice with 15 years’ industry experience and is really enjoying working with such a dedicated and devoted team at Kanwal. Tiana has been a local all her life and has 4 young children with her husband Dean. They have some acreage and enjoy spending time with their dogs and horses.
Pam has had a lifelong passion for animals and enjoys looking after the patients that come into the clinic.
Her four-legged family consists of my two horses – 25-year-old Quarter Horse gelding, Major and 28-year-old Arab mare, Khali, as well as a 15-year-old Terrier cross, Tasha and 14-year-old cat, Bengal.
Pam finds working at Kanwal Veterinary Hospital very rewarding – always learning with each day different.
Darleen has worked at Kanwal vet since Oct 1996. She’s married and has 2 beautiful daughters, and they live with 4 pets – 1 dog Lucy and 3 cats Isabella, Bindi and Smurf. Isabella is the oldest of her pets and Smurf is the youngest.
Darleen loves spending her free time walking Lucy, having family time, watching her girls play sports, riding her motorbike and camping.
Samantha’s love for animals led to studying Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing at Kurri Kurri campus. Since she finished that she hasn’t looked back.
She has two children, Maddison and Rylan, along with a Great Dane “Abbie” and a cat affectionally named by her children as “Cat”.
Hayley’s passion has always been to work with animals. She has been a veterinary nurse since 2006 and not looked back. Hayley became part of the Kanwal Veterinary Hospital family in 2012 and has completed Certificate 3 and 4 in Veterinary Nursing.
Her furry family consists of four spoilt cats, two dogs and a horse called Honey. Her hobbies include horse riding, motorbiking and her two vintage cars.
Kim is one of our Veterinary Nurses and lives with her partner and two young children. Kim enjoys spending time with her horses and going to the beach. Kim has been with Kanwal Veterinary hospital for 10 years.
Fatty arrived as a stray and managed to stay and be fed at our clinic for the rest of his life. His main work was to help with ideas for the information sign at the front of the clinic.
Sadly Fatty passed away in May 2017. He is sorely missed by us all, but his memory lives on!
